EVERYBODY'S HOME SAFELY!
(ADVENTURES SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED...)

Saturday, July 26, 2008

Whew!  We're on the road again - about 850 miles today.  We're spending the night in Battle Mountain, Nevada, and plan to be at Monan's Rill tomorrow evening.  It's been a wonderful trip and we've seen a lot, best of all was Wyatt.  We're missing him, but anxious to see the honeymoon couple and also to sleep in our own beds!

We finished our puzzle this morning before heading to the Geology Museum in Golden.  Wyatt was not as impressed as the rest of us but he was a good sport about it.  Behind Eli and Delores are two tall lava tubes filled with amethyst.  We were amazed...

Today's adventures at the Pirate's Cove water park came to an abrupt end when we had a major electrical storm.  Everybody out!  Thousands of kids rushing to their cars or taking cover in the locker rooms.  Memorable.  I tried to get a picture of the lightening but couldn't get the timing quite right.
Listen closely at 2 secs - Wyatt says his name!

More photos...

Just hanging out here in Denver.  Going swimming, walking, playing together...  Playing scrabble and doing puzzles while Wyatt is napping.  Went to Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison today to see the site where many bones were discovered.  Especially cool were the "tracks."  The colorful dinosaurs out front were not representative of the collection but made a good spot to stop for a photo op.

Willow and Tim had a good time too...

We spent the day at the Denver Water Park.  Amazing.  Wyatt loves the water!  Eli and Delores enjoyed taking Willow, Tim and "Grandma in the Mountains" on the more adventuresome rides.

We've arrived in Denver! Cousins are re-united and already playing happily.  We'll be here having adventures for the next week before heading for home. (Couldn't get any of them to look up.  :)

Did we mention that our tent comes with room service?
Hot cocoa is delivered in the mornings!

Scary!  A visit to the dinosaur museum in Colorado.

In Austin we met Alice who told us all about turquoise.  We bought some cool rocks as souvenirs of our trip through Nevada.

There are very few trees in Nevada.
And the ones we saw today have a strange sort of fruit...  Shoes!

Here we are in the capitol of Nevada, Carson City where we got to see the state legislature building and other cool buildings along with it. We're spending the night in Fallon Nevada!

Kirkwood - one of our favorite places.

We stopped for a hike and a swim!
Leaving Arbuckle on Monday morning -

"We're off" said the monkey as he stuck his tail in the lawnmower.  "It won't be long now!"

Still planning...

July 14

We're still learning how to do this, so please bear with us.  Here are a few additional photos before we head out this morning.  (Mostly this is practice to see if "Grandma in the Mountains" can add a picture all by herself.)   (smile)

Eli says "good-bye" to his mom on July 9

Today is July 13th.
Eli and Delores have been with their Grandparents for the past few days visiting water parks near Sacramento.  We are all in Arbuckle now looking at maps and planning the next leg of our journey.  We're also doing a trial run with the tent.  Tomorrow we're off.
